About Me
Supportive. Qualified. Experienced
I am a professional counsellor with an interest in working with children and families. I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association, member number: 13759.
Over the past 10 years I have worked with children and families organising various educational experiences. I have completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), a Diploma of Counselling, a Master of Autism and a Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Child Play.
Previously, I have run groups to build social skills for children with a variety of issues. I take a strengths based approach, focusing on building on what the child can do, rather than solely focusing on what they can't do. This helps to build their self-esteem.
I also support parents going through the journey of raising a child that needs a little bit of extra support. This can be supporting them through the assessment and diagnostic procedure and exploring their feelings around this, or we can work on utilizing healthy coping strategies and building skills to help reduce stress within the family while you wait for appointments with specialists etc. This role would also involve facilitating parents and carers to connect to local support services and exploring possible funding options for their child/ren.
